From "A Life in the Country" to "Little Suburbia"

Our first place in Colorado was over the river, down a county road & over 4 cattle guards; truly in the sticks/ middle of nowhere.  It was peaceful & quiet- Mr. Wonderful LOVED it, but (being the social butterfly that I am...) it was not what I signed up for.  Our new home is located in the Battlement Mesa community and community is much more my cup of tea! There is an activity center for us to check out & walking paths for Augie-the-wonder-dog & I to adventure on (while we have good weather) & everyone waves at everyone & even the trash guys say good morning to you!  Its a real neighborhood!! We are a stones throw from the grocery store & medical center. {yes, I just said stones throw....} We're loving it & I'm hoping we can meet the neighbors soon!

We are officially 100% moved out of our old place! it only took 3 days and a million trips in a tiny u-haul with a 12' tow-behind trailer.. The new place looks like a bad episode of hoarders with stacks of boxes everywhere, there is a light at the end of the tunnel & we are getting more unpacked every hour. I think Mr. Wonderful will loose his mind if we aren't settled in soon!  WeI are so in LOVE with our new place, it's a perfect fit for us! I will do the photo tour just as soon as we are unpacked. (No way will I show you out tote/box heap!)

Back to the boxes we go....

Navigating Craigslist ... And Buying Things!

Mr. Wonderful & I left our perfectly great washer/dryer set back in Cali at our condo- the place we moved into out here had beautiful Front Loaders (I *might have washer envy) BUT the new place doesn't come with a washer/dryer! Major bummer, so we looked at new & they're a bit pricey....

So Craigslist to the rescue! We found a great little shop that refurbs appliances & warranties them, got our hearts set on a washer dryer set... And (of course) the deal fell through, and we are moving into the new place THIS WEEKEND!!

We simply cannot go without a washer/dryer with as dirty as Mr. Wonderful manages to get at work! So back to Craigslist I went.. Found a great set & the woman selling them seemed nice enough.. (Turns out she was from Simi Valley! It's amazing how many people from back home are out here)

I talk the deal over with Mr. Wonderful & he agrees that I should take a look, he hands me a pile of monies from our yard sale loot & a handgun... {this is an open carry state & with Craigslist one can NEVER be too careful} but even I was a bit surprised for a second.

I called my partner in crime K & Off to GJ we went! The deal went well, we got our washer/dryer for less than they were asking & the handgun was unnecessary. But we felt way safer having had it with us since the house was in the sticks! (more-so in the sticks than our current house, if thats even possible!) I love when Craigslist transactions are uneventful!

The washer/ dryer are waiting for us at the new place & I cannot wait to move in & get settled!

On The Move.... Again!

I apologize for the delay in catching you all up on our news. We are moving this week! We've been a little busy, packing and before that we were scrambling to find a place to live as the current rental is being foreclosed on and an auction date has been set. (AHHHHH!!!!) Needless to say we were NOT interested in sticking around while the owners of this place collected rent and didn't bother to pay their bills. {PYFB people! Seriously!!}

We are soooo excited to move into the new place, we love the house & the area (it cuts down on Mr. Wonderfuls commute) and I'm excited to live in more of a community with walking trails & lots to do in a more populated area.

The only downside is that we will be more than 20 minutes from a Target (Mr.Wonderful finally got his wish) but I will survive.. Haha, he doesn't realize that he has moved me 30 minutes closer to HobbyLobby!! (Don't tell him- it will be our secret for now)

Check out the new view from the backyard! Not bad eh??

Thunderstorms!

It's a well known fact that I am a teeny bit afraid of thunderstorms and the lightning that comes with them.  I should be clear... By teeny bit, I mean I used to hide from the mid-west summer storms under my grandmas bed.  And when I hear the crack of lightning, and the roar of thunder, I still consider hiding under the dining room table till it passes. ( I'm MUCH more brave when Mr. Wonderful is around- he makes me brave).

Augie-the-wonder-dog is only a teeny bit scared of this thunderstorm business too.  I did manage to capture a picture of the lightning before running back in the house. And you know what they say.... " if you wanna see the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain"

All of these storms have brought about some of the most beautiful views from our back porch.

Grow Damnit!!

This years transition for winter to spring felt a bit more like a game of tug-o-war. First it's 75 & sunny, then 4" of snow on the ground.. So all of my aspirations for becoming a master gardener this year sort of blew out the window.  But, never fear, I planted all of my little seedlings in containers and I drag them into the house on cold nights and protect them from nasty weather.. Here is the updated photo "proof of life" for those of you who are aware of my black thumb.

Please excuse the mishap with the strawberries, the birds ate them... (Figures!)

The Tale of Two Bald Eagles.....

On the county road that we drive on everyday, there is a tree, and in that tree there is a nest.  In that nest are 2 Bald Eagles & much to my surprise... 2 eggs which hatched 2 babies!!! Check out the great pictures I got a few days ago!!
