My Black Thumb is Turning GREEN!
We moved in almost 2 months ago & got as unpacked as we could before Mr. Wonderful & I could welcome our first company in the new house. While my MIL was here we got the garden all squared away & everything is doing very well! Yesterday I even got to pick 5 strawberries!!!
A Lot Can Change in 7 Months!
Namely my mind on the "frozen tundra".
Now that winter is over & summer is upon us, thunderstorms & all (and we know how i feel about those!) I think I can honestly say that we are still loving it out here, and enjoying the warm weather (it's a DRY HEAT)- lets be serious, somedays we are pretty sure we live ON the sun.
We recently ventured up to Aspen when Kristi was in town, what a difference half a year makes!
Kristi decided that she would consider selling a kidney to live in Aspen if that tells you how lovely it is up there right now!
It's so colorful & lush with happy tourists bustling around enjoying the shops & eateries. (We do enjoy our people-watching!)

Tastes Like Summer!! A Canning Adventure
We live very close to Palisade, Colorado. We have family on the front range, and they keep telling us how amazing the peaches are! Since we moved here essentially at the start of winter, we missed out on the produce that Colorado has to offer. Well, the lavender festival was in Palisade this weekend, and we decided to check it out (and let's be serious, to buy some fresh local lavender), one simply can't venture to Palisade during peach season & not buy any peaches! So we bought a pile of peaches!
We had just picked up the tools for canning to keep things tasting amazing when there are no more. Back to the peaches.. mmmmmmm peaches. Between the lavender and the fresh peaches, the truck smelled amazing on the way home.
I put Mr. Wonderful to work chopping & stirring the golden sweet deliciousness.
We boiled our jars & lids & filled them & processed them and patiently awaited that happy little "SNAP!" (letting us know that they are safe to store... And eat .. Err I mean gift to friends & family!)

Kayaking the rapids on the mighty Colorado River!
Colorado River: 1 Megan & Kristi: 0
Our good friend Kristi came to stay with us over 4th of July weekend. We were looking for fun things to do while she was in town, we decided on rafting- and rafting turned into kayaking on the mighty Colorado River. We went with the Rock Gardens Rafting Co. they seemed to have the best options. And it was about an 8 mile 3 hr adventure- starting just after No Name (yes, thats an exit) and ending just after some class III rapids in west Glenwood. They had many options & we liked that we could could go in kayaks and avoid the Shoshone rapids (which after our adventures I don't know if we would have survived- LOL). Mr. Wonderful had been kayaking before, Kristi and I had never been in one (let alone navigated rapids in one!)
"he went this and we went that way. I looked at hollywood and said where'd he go and hollywood said where'd who go?"
These were taken just a few minutes before Kristi and I hit a huge rock in the water and both went for an unintended swim! Kristi got back into the kayak.. I on the other-hand, had to be rescued (AKA yanked from the water by my life-vest and into a rafting boat to meet up with my partner in kayaking in calmer water) after being swept down-river by the current.
Once we were back in our kayak (we double duckied it) we were giggling and trying to figure out what went wrong and how we ended up in the water. All Mr. Wonderful saw was Kristi, all alone in the kayak. The good news is we both survived with minimal bruises and no one drowned. The bad news is I don't think I ever want to kayak the river ever again.
It was a beautiful part of the river & overall we had a good time. If there is a next time I think we will let someone else steer around the rocks!
