Hope: Found Among the Flowers

It's the strange way that they seem to pop up out of nowhere, even where they don't belong.  That right there gives me a sense of hope; a feeling that no matter where you get transplanted you can always survive.  Thanks flowers, in the winter I will need to remember that!

In the garden flowers symbolize the coming fruits or vegetables. Gifts from the garden if you will.  We planted some sunflowers in the backyard and once they grew to about 5 feet tall they were broken in half by the severe winds that we have up here and I checked them just the other day and they each have 3 to 4 new blooms on them. How resilient is that??
So flowers give me hope, hope that things will always get better and hope that no matter how sad things seem everything is going to be okay.  And if you're lucky, it will be beautiful.

There's one flower in particular that started growing in one of our hanging baskets and just today it bloomed and it was the happiest little thing standing all proud because it survived where most others wouldn't have.  Here is the pic I took with all the stormclouds behind it.
How fun is that?!

Holy Flying SNAKE!!

The Colorado adventure continues- this time, in the backyard.

So we have a garter snake in our yard, supposedly he is a "good" thing... But I am terrified of snakes! Augie-the-wonder-dog has been enjoying chasing the snake all over the backyard.  I have only had a few sightings of the nasty creepy thing. That is... Until last night.

Augie-the-wonder-dog finally caught him and threw him up in the air.  It looked something like this:
Lets be serious.. There is NOTHING scarier than a flying snake.  Needless to say, I screamed and ran in the house (I'm sure the neighbors heard- maybe even people in China).

Our First Summer in Colorado

Summer in Southern California means June gloom, fog on the 4th of July & the fair in August.  Summer in Colorado means packing away your winter clothes, breaking out the sundresses & dusting off your flip flops to prepare for a stint of life on the sun (as Mr. Wonderful tells it) with days reaching 109 and nights staying warm we are definitely experiencing seasons.
My garden is happy to have so much sunlight- everything is flourishing! I fact, just the other day we got to pick some beets and a cucumber and a few strawberries (they were delicious!)
This summer my brother & his family came to visit us- we had a wonderful visit with them! We just loved getting to be tourists & go to the Glenwood Springs Adventure Park and take the cave tours.
We rode 2 gondolas; one to the adventure park & one to the Aspen Summit!

Summer up here really is beautiful! It's a totally different type of beautiful than beach beautiful. I love them both.

Fact: I'm a TOTAL Wuss When it Comes to Bugs

Well it's a known fact that I'm not a fan of spiders, ants, and well flies... But I have discovered that I also am not fond of grasshoppers & potato bugs (cause lets face it, they're CREEPY!)
This week, I found- and promptly lost a potato bug in the house!  They are hands-down the nastiest yuckiest bug on the planet! I'm pretty sure they're prehistoric! I also had a grasshopper jump/ fly/ hurl itself it my face! Oh the adventure that is Colorado!
